It gets to the point that even the Phil Jackson has no answer for the Lakers. A four-game winning streak punctuated by 28-point victory over the Warriors on Sunday night led the inaugural 10-word statement at a press conference the coach then.
"I do not know what to say," he said. "You can ask questions."
Work on the Lakers 12-2 record already told us much about their approach to the season. We will do everything to win all their games, it looks like a basic assumption, although we have not spent enough time watching the NBA. Taking night out is a pain that can achieve the good teams and those just playing out the string, an inevitable byproduct of the 82-game season.
Apart from this, it hit the Lakers. Three quarters of double-digit victories with margins, a sign that the starters came out with the intention to put teams away. And three quarters worth of work all had to put Bryant on Sunday, and in three other games this season, and a sign of the bench players took care of business enough to keep starters on the bench in the fourth.
Reserve forward Matt Barnes was serious enough to refer to a flagrant foul in the fourth quarter when he knocked out Vladimir Radmanovic's layup attempt in the country, when the Lakers were ahead by 35 points. "I went to the ball," Burns said. "I was looking for the result, I'm looking at wide-open layup."
Shannon Brown continues to provide quick offense in the second section; Week was 17 points in 19 ½ minutes.
Sometimes, a veteran team with championship experience will abandon the chase for the best record in the league and home home advantage throughout the postseason, confidence in their ability to win playoff games on the road. It is not the case with the Lakers.
"It's just to win every night," said Bryant. "You will be shown here, your job is to play and your job is to win. I do not think anyone really fret about home advantage."
When the game began to slip away from the Lakers to their first loss at Denver on November 11, Jackson is quick to send Bryant to trial, again a sign that they are glad to have the game to serve as a timely .
only other losses came by five points in a night's Phoenix Suns franchise-record 22-point 3 shots, one shy of the record NBA. And even in this game the Lakers scored 116 of their own. Lakers going for it every night.
"We had some flaws," Jackson said, "But I've never complained about noise."
And if you can not hit the traffic, what is there to complain? "I always have complaints," said Jackson. "There is a good game."
Try saying that Pau Gasol, who made all 10 field goals and his eight shots for 28 points. Gasol also had 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocked shots. Well, this is not the turnover. Make more water for the next act.
Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant puts on less work. Bryant produces only 23 percent of the points Lakers, the lowest rate in 1999-2000, when Phil Jackson is in his first season as coach of the Lakers and Shaquille O'Neal was the MVP of the league.
There is less need for Bryant defense as well. Ron Artest can defend the likes of Brandon Roy and Monta Ellis (whom he helped place on 2-for-10 shooting before Ellis left leg injury in the third quarter). And when Artest checks Burns can get.

NFL : Raiders at Steelers
Big DT John Henderson, who was signed as a free-agent this offseason from Jacksonville, was on the field Wednesday for the first time since the St. Louis game back in mid-September. It had been two months since Henderson had practiced due to a stress fracture in his right foot.
Coach Tom Cable has his troops studying quite a bit of tape from last year’s shocking 27-24 win in Pittsburgh last season. Cable’s reasoning? The Steelers are a near-identical team this year (as identical as you can be in the salary cap era, that is) and utilize a lot of the same exotic blitz packages and formations.
Steelers Notes:
This will be Pittsburgh’s first game without K Jeff Reed, who was cut midweek after missing a 26-yard chippie Sunday night against New England.
While Reed has been erratic this year and something of an off-field distraction throughout his Steeler career, he understood how to kick on the Heinz Field turf, a notoriously tough surface for kickers. His replacement, Shaun Siusham, has never kicked at Heinz.
Looks as though Steelers WR Hines Ward will be made available for Sunday’s game.
Ward suffered a concussion during the first quarter of the New England game and missed the rest of the contest, but passed all the requisite concussion tests and actually practiced in pads on Wednesday.
Seattle Seahawks (5-4) at New Orleans Saints (6-3)
Seahawks Notes:
Some good news up front as it appears rookie LT Russell Okung is ready to hit the playing field for the first time in a month. When Okung is healthy, his impact on the offense is truly noticeable:
The Seahawks had their best two-game stretch of the season running the ball with Okung in the fold, rushing for a total of 111 yards at Chicago and 144 yards at home the next week against Arizona.
While the offensive line might be getting healthy, Seattle’s defensive line is still struggling. It appears DT Colin Cole will miss his third straight game with a high ankle sprain, a big loss for the ‘Hawks considering DT Red Bryant is already out for the year.
Saints Notes:
The big news for the Saints is the return of RB Reggie Bush. His big-play ability should spark a mediocre ground game that’s averaging just 97 yards per contest this season.
The Saints are still waiting on whether or not their other injured RB, Pierre Thomas, will be able to return. He failed to participate in team drills this week and appears to still be struggling with a sprained left ankle.
Look for Drew Brees to exploit a Seattle pass defense that ranks 28th in the league (272.2 yards allowed per game).
Bush will add another receiving dimension out of the backfield and the steadily impressive play of WR Lance Moore has been a revelation for Brees this year.
Moore leads the team in receiving TDs (5) and is second in yards and receptions.

NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 7
Pittsburgh (-3) over Miami
I think Pittsburgh is the best team in the NFL, especially with Ben Roethlisberger back, making their offense balanced again. Miami has some nice wins this season, but I'm not sure Chad Henne is going to be very effective against this defense. I like Pittsburgh to win a low-scoring game in Miami, with Roethlisberger making the difference.
Cincinnati (+3.5) over Atlanta
Atlanta looked like it might have a chance to be the class of the NFC, and then they got beat easily by Philly. Cincy started off well before tailing off, but they know they need a win to try and salvage their season. Look for a good gameplan from Mike Zimmer, and just enough plays out of the Cincy offense to pull off an upset.
St. Louis (+2.5) over Tampa Bay
After last week's win over the Chargers, I believe in the Rams in the NFC West. The defensive front is getting after people just like Spagnulo's Giants' teams used to do. The offense, thanks to Sam Bradford, is showing more signs of life than they have in years. Something is brewing in St. Louis, and I think it will be enough to beat the Bucs.
San Francisco (-3) over Carolina
2-5 an the Niners will start to believe. The musical chairs of Carolina quarterback goes back to Matt Moore. Won't make a difference for this punchless offense, as teams will just load the box. Carolina's receivers aren't good enough to beat anyone.
Washington (+3) over Chicago
The Bears correction continues, as the Redskins are showing signs of being solid. Donovan McNabb is playing better than Jay Cutler right now, which is why I will take the Skins. The Bears need to get Matt Forte the ball in the running game, because teams will be going after Cutler with the way the offensive line has performed this season.
New Orleans (-13.5) over Cleveland
The Saints appear to have some of their mojo back, particularly if they can continue a strong rushing attack. Colt McCoy looked surprisingly good in his first game starting in his career, but there is not enough firepower in Cleveland to compete with the Saints.
Buffalo (+13) over Baltimore
Baltimore should win the game easily, but I think the Bills will be able to make the final score respectable. Fred Jackson should get more touches after the trade of Marshawn Lynch, and that could be a good thing. It will also be interesting to see if they have anything new for CJ Spiller. Ryan Fitzgerald is not anyone's answer to a long-term solution at QB, but he is serviceable, which is more than you could say about Trent Edwards.
Philadelphia (+2.5) over Tennessee
I believe in Kevin Kolb. He looked great against Atlanta, and he appears to have the timing of the offense down. The only thing that concerns me is that Desean Jackson will be out of the game, which is a big blow to the offense. Still, I have more faith in Philly's run game than Tennessee's pass game, which is why I will take the Eagles here.
